Two things the game does not tell you

The quota never moves: 2 on Normal, 6 on Hard, 12 on Expert, whatever the battle and whatever the expansion, which holds across all 8 of them.

Expert is trying to make you lose: in 36 battles out of 42, its mono-type mission names the very type your opponent resists. The exceptions are Colorless and Dragon, which nothing is weak to.
